One Duck Stuck  by Phyllis Root

working on /st/ --scroll down for more activities

It's great to work on the /s/ & /t/ sounds when they are in words right  next to each other!  They are both unvoiced sounds with the same place of articulation, which is right behind the top front teeth.

Suggested home activities:
  1. Stop & Go Game- One person gets to be in charge and tells everyone else to do some kind of action like jumping, dancing, swimming, etc. Everyone else has to follow directions when the person in charge yells "Stop!" & "Go!".  When someone doesn't follow directions, he/she is out!.  The last person out gets to be the next person in charge.
  2. Looking for sticks- go outside to your yard or a park and see how many different kinds of sticks you can find.  Describe & sort them.  Can you build with them?  Can you think of a way to put them in some art?
  3. Seeing stars when you're in the car.  This is a counting game for traveling.  When you're in the car , look for stars on roadside signs and other vehicles.  Call out the ones you see and keep count.  Set a target number and the winner is the first person to call out that many stars.
